We believe in doing good.

We also know that throwing money at causes is not necessarily the most radical of acts. So in addition to donating a portion of our sales to a variety of organizations and causes, we use the store as a meeting place for folks doing good work in our community. And Flourish’s owner, Brandi, spends almost as much time on various mutual aid and community organizing projects as she does keeping Flourish going.

We hope that you’ll be inspired to learn about these organizations and to get involved directly with work that feeds your soul and that helps create a more compassionate world where human, plant, and animal life is valued.

Over the years, we’ve donated over $13,500 in direct donations, plus dozens of auction items for local schools and organizations. Here are some of the organizations and people your shopping dollars at Flourish have impacted:

  • Honor the Earth, which “uses indigenous wisdom, music, art, and the media to raise awareness and support for Indigenous environmental issues. We leverage this awareness and support to develop financial and political capital for Indigenous struggles for land and life.”

  • Sonoma County Acts of Kindness, which provides food, water, clothing, basic necessities, and services for people experiencing homelessness

  • RAICES which provides free and low-cost legal services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. They have been at the forefront in advocating for an end to family separations

  • The CIPOG-EZ (The Indigenous and Popular Council of Guerrero - Emiliano Zapata), an indigenous rights organization in Guerrero, Mexico which fights for indigenous rights and culture. Read about their campaign in English here or Spanish here

  • The Southern Poverty Law Center, which is "dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society… the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality."

  • The Center for Biological Diversity, which is running a campaign to save the Endangered Species Act

  • The Innocence Project, which exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice

  • The Bay Area Immigration Bond Fund, which keeps families and communities together and supports the rights of detained immigrants by raising money to help individuals post bond and secure their release

  • We have donated both to NorCal Resist’s Bail Fund and to their Asylum Seeking & Undocumented Family Emergency Aid Fund. The bail fund helps people facing protest and ICE-related charges make bail, so they can fight their charges at home instead of from jail. Their Emergency Aid Fund supports families with emergency aid so that their rent can be paid and their basic needs met

  • The Chiapas Support Network, which supports the construction of autonomy in Zapatista Territory in Southern Mexico, including supporting the autonomous education system via construction of schools, providing supplies for teachers and students, and support for continuing education of teachers

  • The International Rescue Committee, which responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives

  • The National Lawyers Guild, which unites lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers to function as an effective force in the service of the people by valuing human rights and the rights of ecosystems over property interests

  • The Sylvia Rivera Law Project, which works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence

  • Positive Images, a Sonoma County organization that provides mental health support and advocacy services to LGBTQIA+ youth

  • Planned Parenthood Northern California, whose health centers provide critical services like cancer screenings, birth control, and safe, legal abortion, and deliver reliable, accurate health information, in order to ensure all people can access quality, affordable health care.

  • California Coalition for Women Prisoners, which monitors and challenges the abusive conditions inside California’s women’s prisons; fights for the release of women and trans prisoners; and supports women and trans people in their process of re-entering the community

  • The Living Room, the only day center in Sonoma County serving homeless and at-risk women and children

  • COTS, which provides shelter, food, and services to people experiencing homelessness in Petaluma

  • The Milo Foundation, which saves dogs from shelters and finds them loving homes

  • Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which was founded to protect and conserve all marine wildlife and which now has entities in 20 countries working together on direct action campaigns around the world.

  • North Bay Animal Services, which rescues, cares for, and adopts pets to loving families in Petaluma

  • Flat Broke Farm in Cotati, which provides refuge for abandoned, abused and mistreated farm animals

  • KPFA 94.1FM - The country’s oldest listener-sponsored radio station is right here in the Bay Area and they are committed to promoting cultural diversity and pluralistic community expression in their programming

  • The African Wildlife Foundation, which protects Africa’s most threatened species

  • Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, helping sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife

  • The Sonoma County Black Forum, which helps shape intellectual discourse and dialog to consider the African American experience and which supports area youth with access to education, arts, culture, and technology

  • Friends of the Cachagua Children’s Center, which provides after school programs and a summer camp for children in a small, rural community in central California

  • Feed the Second Line, which keeps culture alive in New Orleans by building a strong safety net for musicians and others who make the city a vibrant place to live and visit. We donated to their Hurricane Ida Relief Fund

  • The Mangrove Action Project, working to preserve, conserve, and restore our world’s mangrove forests

  • Jusoor, supporting Syrian refugees with scholarships, education, and personal development opportunities

  • Color of Change, working to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America

  • Save The Children’s anti-child trafficking fund

  • Lily’s Legacy, a senior dog rescue and sanctuary in Petaluma, CA

  • Umbrella of Hope, a dog rescue organization

  • The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ young people
